Vodacom supp**** me with a faulty phone and doesn't replace it?

I upgraded in December and got a new Samsung S7, within 1 month (start of Jan 2017) the phone started giving major issues. The phone on a daily basis was overheating, freezing for up to one hour with no way to restart it rendering it useless, even though i didnt use my phone during the day when I was at work the phone's battery could not last even until 4pm, on days that I actually do use the phone the battery lasts even shorter. I then went to your Canal Walk repairs store on 09 Feb as this was the first time I was able to get off work to go queue in your store.

The phone was sent to JHB to the advanced repair centre as the canal walk in store repair staff were unable to find the problem after looking into it for 2 hours! Over two weeks later I received a message to confirm my phone had been fixed. When I went to the store it was explained to me that the phone 's main board had to be completely replaced. I was not informed beforehand that this would be replaced.

I then told the manager that I was unhappy that I am paying a lot of money for an expensive phone that within a month of use it's entire main board needed to be replaced.

I feel that I have been given a dud or faulty phone and feel it is highly unfair to be paying top dollar for a spare parts phone especially to expect me to pay for this dud for the next 24 months.

I asked the manager if there is any way that I can be issued a new phone, she said that one can only return the phone within 7 days or of the phone has had to been booked in 3 times for repairs and the advanced repair centre deems it can be replaced.

I re-iterated that I still feel that it is highly unfair and against the consumer protection act for a product to suffer major faults and expect the consumer to accept this and not be issued a refund or a new product. She said that I can try to send it back to the avanced repair centre and request a new phone, however she said the chances that they do replace the phone is very slim and highly unlikely. I then booked in my phone on Monday 20 Feb.

Surely Samsung should also be accountable for creating products that are not up to standard? Surely they should be able to replace a phone that gives issues within a month? Most of my household appliances are Samsung and they have that warranty with the appliances?

I think it is shocking that you sell a product which is faulty within a month and which I need to pay for for the next 2 years, the pure fact that the entire main board needed to be replaced within a month is testament to the fact that there is something really wrong with the phone and I legitimately qualify for a replacement.

I really hope that you look into offering me a new phone for the Faulty phone I have!
