Vodacom SUCKS
People often tell Vodacom Horror Stories and I'm usually the sceptic thinking "yeah Right" not a very likely story, definitely exaggerated *rolling eyes* A whining friend one afternoon tells a story I say even a Rock in the Desert can tell cannot possibly be true, it would be humanly impossible for a service provider to stuff up as badly as his story suggests. So of course my turn comes. August 20 something comes along and I get a call from Vodacom telling me that I have an upgrade due. Hmm ok sounds good since my Last upgrade was about over 3yrs ago and I'm pretty sure I'm overpaying for what I'm getting anyways. I end up talking with an Amanda in Vodacom Upgrades Dept. I get sold a Package RED VIP PLUS: Open Line (Unlimitd Calls) 20Gb Data Unlimitd SMSs all at R799 per month. Sounds good I'm happy we agree and I get thanked and told to keep a lookout for an SMS on 1 Sept confirming my upgrade since I opted for upgrade without device as id be holding onto my iPhone which btw is starting to get a little slow and tired now, but not dead yet. 1 Sept arrives, No SMS. I call upgrades Dept and get told sorry no it will kick in on 7 Sept when my debit order is due. 6 Sept I call again to check if its happening and I get told nope sorry theres no record of an upgrade due to be processed, WHAT ?? NO !! COME ON STOP JOKING !!! Manage to reach Amanda in Upgrades dept again and I get told "So sorry, it appears our system has somehow cancelled the Upgrade Request Processed". Will investigate. Next day I get a call back telling me its definitely a system error and for the inconvenience caused I would be allocated 10Gb data and 500 talk mins. The Upgrade would be processed again and will now kick in start October 2017. Finally 2 days later an SMS telling my that my 10GB and 500mins have been allocated. When I check balances I find only 7.59Gb and some 300 or so minutes allocated. I call again and after numerous calls with no answers I get told that I received a pro-rata allocation of the Talk time and Data for the balance of the month rather than the full allocation (So I'd been ********). This we now accept because hey the New Contract is imminent and these are little issues. At some point around 20 something September I get another call from Upgrades Amanda telling me that the Package I'd beed sold in August was now No Longer available as offered but it now has 10GB less data and costs R100 more p/m !!! HELL NO, sorry Amanda that is NOT OK !! I expect to get what was sold to me, please sort this out. Amanda calls back later to say that it will be done and that I would be paying the R799 and be getting the 10Gb and then another Allocation of 10GB per month to make up the 20Gb as per the RED VIP PLUS package sold to me in August. Fast Forward to 1 October, SMS comes in confirming that the 10GB was allocated. balance enquiry after balance enquiry reveals that the additional 10Gb is still not reflecting. 6 October I call Amanda who assures me that she had just processed it and that it would reflect in the next hour. She would manually allocate the addition 10Gb for the first three months and thereafter it would automatically come in as part of the package. I share my concerns with her at =at some point someone will "Forget" to do the 10GB additional allocation and that I would lose out if I didn't specifically check on it. That day passes and NOTHING. I call back next day and Amanda apologizes and says "the System yada yada yada" Ill fix it. 2 Days later still no data allocation. Get hold of Amanda via email this time (because reaching her via phone each time means I have to explain my full story to at least 3 people each time before getting to talk with her) and I'm told that the matter has been escalated. A day later I mail Amanda again and I'm informed that the matter has been escalated and that she's still waiting on an answer or fix. In the meantime 16 October and effectively 6 weeks after my Upgrade was Processed and 7 weeks before I was skeptical about all of these supposed Vodacom Horror stories, here I sit having always thought that Vodacom and I "Share a toothbrush", I have come to realize that Vodacom gets the end with the bristles. So I'm about to make the call the Vodacom cancel this agreement in which they are in breach of, so I can move across to Cell C where I'm able to get a very similar package and they will throw in a Handset Upgrade as well. Tempting ? Hell Yes, at this point anyone offering me any package whose brand does not start with a V will get my clearly meaningless Business.
This was up to earlier this week. After my FB post I was requested to email Vodacom the very detail above and the games continue. Everything from "We cannot reach you on your Cellphone" . whilst no one else has had any trouble reaching me. to "Please provide an alternate number" which I did and still NO Communication from them. Then on FB numerous people from Vodacom asking me to send an email to their social media email account which I keep telling them I did. This just keeps going on and on, each time a new person from Vodacom replies to the thread asking me to email them, which i confirm ive already done but yet they continue asking each time. they don't seem to be interested in resolving this matter at all. Ive already instructed them to cancel my Brand New contract so I may move across to another Service Provider who will actually provide a service for the monies I will be paying them each month. Im in fact at a point where im even prepared to pay someone MORE than im contrcated to pay Vodacom just to get away from this DISGUSTING treatment from what is THE LARGEST cellular service provider in our country.
Whatever anyone does make sure you really know what these guys are like and how they ignoire problems before signing up a new contract with them!! Ive only been with Vodacom for ever since Cellular was launched in this Country.
