Vodacom stole my number and my data.

Vodacom did it again. I have a "data stick" that my colleague uses occasionally when travelling. We haven't used it for a while. I bought data directly from my bank account.

When trying to use the data, on various computers, the connection was not picked up. I took the device and simcard to Vodashop Cresta . The technician informed me that if I do not use the simcard for three months the number gets reallocated.

I was never informed of the possibility when I bought and rica-ed the simcard or when they unilaterally decided to take it back.

I asked to speak to the manager. Like all Vodacom staff I have ever spoken to, he takes no responsibility for the organisation, their products or services. (If all staff in an organisation speak of the organisation as 'they' there is something wrong.) His only suggestion was to contact HelloPeter as complaints on that platform goes directly to 'the CEO of Vodacom'.

I feel that both the item I have bought from Vodacom, (the simcard and associated number), as well as the data I bought has been *****ently taken from me.

Our household has recently moved all our contracts from Vodacom due to their poor service, however, I did not expect that they would also target this last contact with them.

The least I expect is a refund of the cost of the data I bought, but the issue of an organisation selling something to me and then unilaterally deciding to take it back is the more serious matter. Would it be acceptable if a clothing store comes to my home and takes back clothing because I am not wearing it? If this is not acceptable, why is Vodacom's treatment of their customers acceptable?

Due to the Rica process, Vodacom has my contact details, and the least they could have done is to warn me (using another contact detail, that they are withdrawing my use of the number.

I find this totally unacceptable.

I had a call from Vodacom. The person calling says that "it is policy". The only way in which they are willing to refud my money is paying it onto another Vodacom simcard. I am not willing to buy another Vodacom simcard after they de*****ed me - stalemate.
