Vodacom stock issue as a result of financial year end

We ordered a Iphone 6 from vodacom shop in mall at reds centurion. Initially stock would arrive in a day or two. A few days later after being unable to reach them we went in and were informed that stock is now a problem. Is it a usual process that clients have to wait longer for order because of financial year end? Are these standard yearly procedures not planned for or at least communicated to public when ordering?? Would have rather repaired current phone and kept our business running smoothly.
