VODACOM stinks and *****s
I upgraded my cell phone contract with Vodacom during March 2024. I signed a contract and was quoted R777.48 ass the amount payable per month. I am a pensioner and I regarded the amount as affordable. At the end of April the amount of R777.48 was deducted via debit order from my account. Then suddenly, during May, I received and account of R1411.48. On the account, I found that 3 cell phone numbers, COMPLETELY UNKNOWN TO ME was also charged against my account. I visited the Vodacom branch where I took out my contract, and was informed that I would have to cancel these 3 numbers, as I will be paying for them. On Tuesday, 4 June, after I could not get hold of the "Cancellations" Department, I went to the Brooklyn Vodacom branch again. At the branch, the Branch Manager sat with me and assisted me to cancel the 3 unknown numbers, only after the agent tried to convince me to keep the phones. He was very unreasonable, and insisted that I keep the phones in spite of me telling him over and over that I cannot keep the phones, as I do not have them!!! I only have the phone on the original contract. In the end he informed me that he has cancelled the unknown number by changing them on the system to "prepaid phones" WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT.
I was informed that I will receive SMS messages to confirm the "cancellation". This of course did not happen and during June I once again received an account in the amount of R1411.48 which was deducted form my account on 28 June 2024.
I also received an SMS informing me that until I receive SMS's confirming the cancellations, the numbers are not to be regarded as cancelled.
I have the three reference numbers provided to me on 4 June of the cancellations, but apparently they mean nothing.
I am desperate, as I cannot afford this extra R600,00 deducted from my account every month. My pension is not sufficient to cover any unnecessary expenses.
