Vodacom still trying to milk me for money two years after closing an account!
I had a Vodacom more than two years ago, after years of bad service I finally decided to leave Vodacom and pay the balance outstanding. I happened to underpay by a few rands (my bad). I was not contacted until a year later by an attorney who informed me that suddenly it had escalated to approx R650. They sent me all the documentation for settling the account. I paid the account and sent proof of payment.
I assumed all was settled until recently, once again a year later I get a call to say they have never closed the account (I should have received some form of a letter I never knew about) and now I owe in the excess of R3000.
Firstly I am appalled at the fact that Vodacom only "calls" once a year through an attorney ... it's clearly not as though they don't have my number. Secondly the call operator at Hammond Pole Attorney's, is unhelpful, basically informed that they will decide whether or not I paid and lastly decided it was her place (Palesa Olifant) to tell me how to manage money, how it was my fault because I did not pay (erm, proof of payment was sent to Vodacom a year ago!!!).
I then took it back to Vodacom legal, I sent an email and got a ticket number EC-0CWB-2KNKW9 which said I would get a response within 5 working days. That was the first week in August. I have followed up with calls and emails since and have still had no feedback.
Next step is my sleeping bag and a campout at Vodacom head office as well as reporting the case to ICASA. I have consumer rights and right now I am beyond livid!
