Vodacom *****S DATA AND AIRTIME

On Saturday 24 February 2018, I wake up to 3 SMS's from Vodacom that I have used all my data. The first being at 07:08 notifying me that i have less than 299MB left and the third at 07:5x that I have 0MB left. In the space of 45 minutes, while I was asleep and my phone connected to WiFi with a VPN (explained below), over 300MB of data mysteriously vanished (picture evidence).

This is the 4th time this has happened to me and I have noticed it does not happen when I have high data balances. It ALWAYS happens when I have around 300MB of data and it just depletes it mysteriously and obviously my airtime vanishes due to "out-of-bundle" rates which are INSANE on it's own!

It's also interesting that while my mobile data was on as was my WiFi (it even shows it was connected), I use a paid VPN service with a **** Switch which means that it will not allow any outgoing connections unless there is a stable connection (in this case it was connected to WiFi. Most of my applications are also toggled off to deny mobile data usage.

The only explanation for this is that Vodacom "*****s" the data and then your airtime as well, forcing you to top-up or to use one of their ridiculous promo deals that gets sent when your limits have been reached (ie. Top-up 1GB for R79 valid for 7 days).

My family and I have been with Vodacom for over 10 years, but I have had enough - would definitely advise against them as a service provider!!

The feedback was basically to turn off everything on my phone, might as well buy a carrier ***eon. Interestingly, when I walked into a Vodacom store on Sunday 25 February 2018, and asked the consultant/technician why Vodacom *****s our data - her response was that she's not sure and it happens to her and her colleagues as well. It is known amongst their own employees?! Completely unfathomable.
