Vodacom *****s data

Today I received an SMS from vodacom saying that I had 287mb of 700mb of data left (5th of the month).
2 hours later after I drove home I received another SMS that said I had 87mb left.
I have never used more than my data limit and this has never happened before and my phone habits have not changed so I phone to asked Vodacom what had happened. They could only give me generic answers such as my apps must be auto updating (all of these are turned off) or I received many messages (200mb? I only received about 10 whatsapps so these answers I find to be logically flawed).
They suggested I should get itemised billing but I know this would only show a charge of mb and not what the data was used for. (please note they charge you for itemised billing if requested)
They were very unhelpful, , they could not answer my question of how I used 200mb of data on my drive home and they kept talking in circles. The only conclusion I can make is that Vodacom has charged me for data I haven't used and this is unacceptable.
