Vodacom *****ing R20 per month from my bank account for 2 years, and refusing to fix their 'mistake'!

I've really struggled with a mistake Vodacom made, and it feels like they've made it impossible to fix! They have been billing me R20 per month for a contract I cancelled over 2 years ago, and they are unable to fix the problem!!!!

I had 2 contracts with Vodacom - a data contract and a voice contract. I cancelled the data Contract in July 2017, and it was only when I cancelled my Voice contract recently that I realised that I WAS STILL BEING CHARGED R10 to R20 MONTHLY FOR MY CANCELLED DATA CONTRACT - FOR OVER 2 YEARS NOW!

So I emailed Vodacom customer care to report the problem, and asked them to stop the debit order immediately and repay me. They rep**** that the contract was apparently still active, but not with any data. I rep**** with proof from my previous conversation with Vodacom Customer Care from July 2017, when they CONFIRMED ON EMAIL that the contract would be cancelled. Vodacom's reply to that? "We're afraid the contract is still active." Me: "Yes I know it's still active, but it's not supposed to be. Vodacom made the mistake. Please fix it." Vodacom: "We're afraid the contract is still active. Please find proof of the latest billing statement for R18." Me: "YES I KNOW! PLEASE HELP ME FIX YOUR MISTAKE!" Vodacom: "Sorry, we can't fix this over email. Please call the Cancellations department to cancel." Me: "I DID PHONE THEM IN 2017 AND I DID CANCEL BACK THEN!"

So then I gave up on Vodacom Customer Care via email, and I phoned the cancellations department. The consultant couldn't hep me because my contract (which was still active) was on the 'Old System'; but he would get someone else to call me back. No-one called me back. 2 weeks later I try call the Cancellations Dept again. The consultant again couldn't log in to the 'Old System' to help me, and again told me someone would call me back to help. It's been 24 hours and no-one has called me back.

Thankfully, it has only been about R20 a month, but it feels like Vodacom has been *****ing money from my account for the past 2 years and it makes me worried about everyone else out there! It's also frustrating, if it was just a mistake, that they have made it near IMPOSSIBLE to simply stop their error, never mind return my money!

Vodacom, I am very disappointed, and no-one else deserves to go through this with you and so I can't recommend you to anyone else.

Dear Vodacom,

To build my case, it’s been 2 weeks now and I’ve still had no contact from you.

This seems to prove my theory that Vodacom Customer care is hollow and ineffective. I’m severely disappointed in Vodacom and would definitely not recommend their services to anyone, especially as they leave me in the lurch with this!

Dear Vodacom

It's been ANOTHER 4 months and this problem is STILL not resolved.

Since my first efforts to resolve this amicably with Vodacom, via multiple emails and phonically to the Call Centre, I resorted to HelloPeter to inform other customers of Vodacom's poor customer service, and to warn them of this trap of theft.

I'd better sketch this scenario out to highlight how poorly Vodacom Customer Service functions.

Since my initial post:
- Vodacom rep**** the following day on 9th Jan, and then no word again from them.
- I then posted a 2nd HelloPeter complaint (HelloPeter seems to be the only forum I receive responses) after having heard nothing in over 2 weeks, on 23rd Jan.
- Vodacom rep**** (above) on 3rd Feb, and they emailed me the same day to ask for my details so they can help me resolve the issue.
- I rep****, and have not heard from them since.
- I have called their Call Centre on multiple occasions, and on at least 2 occasions the consultant was unable to help me at the time because they were 'unable to log on to the OLD SYSTEM' to resolve my complaint and simply cancel whatever I was paying for (A reminder, I had ALREADY CANCELLED MY DATA CONTRACT IN JULY 2017, and I have confirmation of the cancellation on email after having called their call centre to cancel it back then!!!). They said they would get someone else to phone me back, and they never have.

My monthly Vodacom bill has been debited again.

This is my final opportunity to Vodacom to resolve this once and for all. I will not spend my airtime calling a Vodacom Call Centre again (I have since moved to MTN), and if they do not escalate this immediately and cancel these payments I will be forced to lay a complaint with ICASA - the Complaints Commission.

This is all here to lay bare the efforts Customers need to go to, to simply CANCEL A CONTRACT, that Vodacom accidentally didn't cancel and seems to be unable to cancel - 3 years on!!!
