Vodacom - stay away
On or around 14 February a sales person from Vodacom phoned informing me that I had to upgrade as my current package was going to be discontinued at the beginning or end of March. They offered me a new deal and shortly thereafter I noticed an additional R400 added to my monthly contract. On or around 20 Feb I contacted Vodacom only to be informed that the deal actually does not exist in the format as previously explained. I cancelled the contract renewal including the additional R400 (1000 minutes @ some % discount) part of the deal. The R400 was removed from my account for Feb and I expected the matter to have been closed. At the beginning of March I again saw the additional R400 om my account (for March) and decided to cancel my contract with Vodacom after being a client for very many years. After some struggle with their cancellation department (which in fact is a retention department and they have no motivation to assist you to cancel your contract) I was informed that my contract has been canceled, the R400 charge removed and my contract will end at the end of March. I contacted Vodacom on the 31st March, after noticing the R400 charge still on my account, to get it reversed as well as to confirm that my contract has indeed been cancelled & will terminate the following day. I was informed that a request to reverse the R400 charge has been logged and that my contract will terminate the following day. None of this happened. The R400 charge was not removed and my contract did not terminate as informed. I again spend quite some time with Vodacom to again lodge a complaint about the R400 charge as well as trying to get my contact cancelled. This time I was successful in cancelling my contract but Vodacom again subtracted the additional R400 from my account at the end of April. This has been a really bad experience and I would not recommend Vodacom as a service provider.
