VODACOM SIMSWAP *****

Hi there,

Someone sim swapped my Vodacom sim card from 7 pm yesterday and ineffective compromised my personal WhatsApp. This person has been sending texts to my friends and family asking for R1500 even bargaining this amount. I spent 4 hours trying to sort this out, since today morning. Vodacom dealers failed to explain how this happened especially considering my sim card is ricad and one has to have access to my ID to do this.

When I sent Vodacom an inbox on Twitter regarding the matter, this was their response, "Vodacom never would never perform a sim swap on your behalf. Please do be careful with your personal information. Is there anything else we can assist you with?"

I strongly believe this is an inside job because Vodacom fails to indicate who did the sim swap yesterday at 7 pm, yet when I visited a branch, their system showed that a different phone than mine was using my line.

Please assist.

I want to know how my number was sim swapped without my knowledge. Personally, I have asked around and the people who seem to have experienced this and actually lost money have been Vodacom users. So please investigate who sold me the sim card as I had to delete my WhatsApp account linked to my Vodacom line due to the damages done.
