Vodacom sim swap online without requesting a form of identity.
I had a very unfortunate situation with Vodacom on the 15th May 2024, where someone did swim swap online and took over my account since its prepaid. the person used whatsapp to request money from people on my contact list. It has come to my attention that all Vodacom prepaid customers are not protected by Vodacom. Recently there has been lot of Vodacom customers whose accounts where hacked. I went to the Vodacom shop to enquire about the swim swap and i was told that prepaid customers are not protected only those with contract are safe. I was requested to bring my ID, proof of residence and last five numbers i dialed on that day. To my surprise when you do swim swap online those documents are not needed, hence customers accounts are hacked. The Big question is why Vodacom is not protecting all its customers because we bring business for them. I am not happy with the situation where other customers are forced to take contracts so that they can be safe. Vodacom must protect all its customers and must be held responsible for all financial loss we are experiencing.
