Vodacom shop Insurance *******

I am writing on behalf of my father, whom after have a cell phone contract with Vodacom since 2000 and up untill now been working through VodaShop Richards Bay. He in 2015 upgraded his phone as per contract and took out insurance. a few months back he dropped his Sony Z3 and the following day took in for repairs under his insurance. Unfortaunately, Voda Shop did not have a standby phone for my father to take while his phone was in for repairs. So he took his phone back and left to go and buy a phone so that he could stay incontact with his clients (He owns a company in the port). A few month later when he eventually got a chance he returned to give the phone in for the required repairs. and this is when the issues with this store and it's staff started. Firstly they stated that it would not be covered as the phone was not reported as damaged asap after the phone was dropped, which infact it was... the very next day after it was dropped, however the staff did not record the fact... After this was sorted out and they staff was made aware of this fact, they agreed to do the repair under insurance claim at a cost of +/- R700.00 as excess. to which all was agreed. A month later after countless un answered phone calls he gets told that it will not longer be covered by the insurance as they did not record it when the phone was initially brought in. Again after explaining that they did not follow their own record keeping and demanding that the phone be brought back and all insurance premiums be returnt to my father after to getting what he has been paying for they agreed again to have the phone repaired under the paid for insurance. Then it came to collection time, at which point my father was told that it would cost R2000.00 to have his phone returned to him as they are no longer honouring the insurance claim, yet this whole time they where charging him the insurance premium on his contract. This is what you can expect from Richards Bay's local Voda Shop... As a result of this poor service and total lack of any honour from this branch of Voda Shop, my dads company will no longer do any business with vodacom and of any of their subsidiaries.

I have been updated by my father regarding the above, Since we last spoke. This branch has agreed to honour the insurance claim however, once the phone was repaired, requested that the excess be paid into a 3rd parties bank account before the phone could be released. This is what pushed my father to close his account and move as he was not the person who contracted the third party and he was not prepared to pay money into an account of a business whom he has had any dealings with or anything.

Well I have now totally given up... eventually 2 weeks ago a phone was sent and in apparent working order only to have the phones backing start to come off and then the programing to be found faulty as well. A true testament to the total and utter disregard for a clients right to receive that which has been paid for. Vodacom is the most useless, waste of time that I have ever experienced from any service provider and their so called insurance program is a total hack and full of empty promises. Over 3 months and still now properly working phone. Absolutely pathetic service from them.
