Vodacom Shop Greenstone. CAUTION.
I am a pensioner and went with my grandson to Vodacom Shop Greenstone for upgrading my contract. My intension was that my grandson could take the new phone and I will keep my old phone. We were bombarded by sales people and Savanna the consultant sold us a package where we walked out with a Huawei P20 Pro and a wireless router for R699 per month. To be honest I as a pensioner did not really know what I signed up for.
When I informed my son about the deal, he realised that I was mislead. I was down graded from a Smart S plan to a Smart XS plan with almost the most expensive phone on the market and that I will not have any use for the router because I already have a Vodacom USB internet ****le that I use for my email. We phoned Vodacom Customer Care and was advised that it is within our rights to cancel the deal within 7days, we should just take everything back to the store. We were at the store the next day, within 24hours of doing the upgrade. The store refused to cancel the contract on the grounds that the phone was second hand. The phone was opened instore by Savanna, she insisted that we buy a screen guard which we did and she put on. That was the only time the phone was handled, it never even had a simcard inserted. The router and simcard is still sealed in packaging. After numerous calls to Vodacom and escalating the matter to as far as we could, we were told that Vodacom cannot do anything for me, as Vodacom Shop Greenstone is privately owned and does not fall under the Vodacom Franchise umbrella. The matter should be sorted out instore.
We also realised that we never received a copy of the upgrade contract.
We made numerous calls to Marco Cupido the store manager to ask for a copy of the contract so we could read their T's & C's and also tried reasoning with him to come up with a solution to suit both parties better. To deal with Marco is to try and deal with a brick wall and that is where it stops. From there you cannot deal with someone higher up the chain, you are refused any contact numbers and you are left in the wind.
I have been a loyal Vodacom customer ever since Celphones came out and are deeply disappointed with this experience.
