Vodacom shocking Black Friday after sales service and confusion

I took an upgrade with Vodacom on one of their seemingly ludicrously good Black Friday specials. I had their 300+300 Gig for R300/m special from last year's Black Friday which worked absolutely super - and I thought things can surely only get better - This new upgrade also included an additional Router and I already went to a Vodashop to purchase an additional SIM for it. But low and behold, when the new contract kicked in , not only were my old secondary SIMs disabled, my new SIMs could also not be added to the contract. After almost 7 hours of phone calls , 3 branch visits and endless frustration we managed to figure out that the NEW contract was actually not an UPgrade but a DOWNgrade.

YES there was more Data and YES there was a shiny new Modem but the new Contract was a "TopUp" type whatwhat, whereas the Old contract was an "OpenLine" whatwhat. That means in practice - Topup = One Sim, One Modem.... and OpenLine = multiple SIMS.

How the Vodacom Online Sales people and Branch staff missed this is beyond me. It was just promises all-round about uninterrupted service and everything being more, good and wholesome.

How Vodacom thinks you will even remotely use all these huge volumes of DATA that they entice you with, utilizing a Single SIM is beyond me. It is clearly a **** and capitalist trickery. Yes the Modem can "connect" 32+ devices but your bandwidth is set. you divide it every time you connect a device. Add more Sims, one for each device, and it starts to work - for you that is - not for Vodacom. It doesn't matter that it is a CAPPED contract. Fact is, they never had the intention of u actually reaching 300, 500 or whatever Gig for R299/m - they just wanted to blind you into entering the contract. Shameless and not expected from the supposed industry standard and leader of Telecom ISPs. Back to Telkom I guess, can't believe I'm saying that. But Perspective is an eye opener.
