Vodacom service going the same route as Nokia
I upgraded my phone and part of the offer was a Samsung VR kit. Four months later I am still waiting for the kit. I have been back to the Vodacom store at least 6 times so far. At the time of the upgrade the consultant said the VR kits were out of stock and I should come back. After several returns to the Vodacom store I was told that I should have contacted Samsung directly but since I was not told to do so, the store would send an email to Samsung with the relevant info so that the VR kit would be delivered to me. Several follow-up trips later, still no VR kit. I then went to Vodaworld where I was told that they can't help and I should go back to the store. Does Vodacom not want to provide these kits or just advertising to get people to take up upgrade offers? Also, the phone had a speaker issue, I took it in to Vodaworld and their records could not verify that it was a Vodacom supp**** phone and I needed to provide proof of purchase. When I asked the lady to check with the Vodacom store she said they don't answer their phone and I should physically go back to the store, get the proof of purchase and come back (surprising for a company that claims to be digitally advanced). More surprising was a senior service consulting agreeing with me that contacting Hello Peter would probably speed up the process of resolving these issues! Last year I received a huge data bill because I used data out of my bundle (out of bundle rates are 10 times more than bundle rates) due to an automated back-up that I did not know was running. I paid the amount because I used the data but called Vodacom to prevent this in future and asked that data usage should be capped to my bundle. I was told that Vodacom cannot stop this from happening unless I had a prepaid account. Again, more is expected from a company that is advertising their advanced technology.
