Vodacom 'service': a lesson in futility.

Vodacom are categorically the worst service provider in South Africa. I was phoned by an agent in July and offered two new phones and a new router. At no charge, she said. I checked at least half a dozen times with her: NO EXTRA COST! As a long term client it's on the house. I agree and we go through the terms and conditions on the phone: so legally: offer made and accepted. Under South African Consumer Law, that's a contract. Phones arrive, and, of course, monthly bill goes up over 30%!! Phone Vodacom, and get pushed around for hours. "We'll call you back." Never do. I phone again, three times: no help. Get routed to a place called Mondo escalations. Phone them and give the story. We'll get back to you. They don't. Phone again and, for the hundredth time, go through the story. They come back and tell me: one query is valid, the others aren't, which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Backwards and forwards for four months; sitting with useless new phones until the query is resolves, and paying a vastly increased monthly amount to Vodacom. I even get to listen to the tape of the sale, and it is exactly as I have told Vodacom: three free new devices. I finally get hold of someone at Mondo today who tells me, and this is verbatim: "Your queries are valid." I ask "So what's going to happen?" Answer (I swear): "Nothing. We can't change anything." When I query the ludicrous logic, she just hangs up. So to summarise: Vodacom agents can **** you over the phone; you can chase your tail for months and get absolutely nowhere. They just hope you give up and go away. Get a Vodacom contract at your peril: they are useless, and their agents are allowed to get away with conning customers.
