Vodacom *****s leftover data, subverts regulator
Vodacom have been changing their data bundles every month or two recently so that they can ***** any leftover data at the end of the month rather than rolling it over. Instead of honouring the regulator order requiring them to roll data over, they have found a way to bypass it by making it impossible to buy the same data bundle month after month.

26 Jul 2024, 08:50This reply is as worthless as was the call I wasted time taking from a "consultant" who just tried to fop me off with platitudes. The facts are this. In April, I paid R159 for 3Gb data. In May, I had to pay R165 for 4Gb data - and I lost all my unused data because the bundle size differed from the previous month. In July, I had to pay R155 for 2,5Gb data. If this is not smoke and mirrors to give the regulator the runaround and avoid allowing consumers to retain unused data, then I don't know what would be. Vodacom is in any case no longer competitive on their data prices. Competitors are charging around R100/5Gb. Luckily, I am on prepaid so won't be with Vodacom much longer.
