Vodacom's Bad Service Ref: S3-GCT2X-XZN30

For the last 24 month Vodacom is billing me beyond what I have contracted for, with them. Their reason is that I have exceeded my call limit or data usage. Coincidently this happened at the same time when they where found wanting in the 'Please call me' case of Mr Makate. They even offered me what they said is a better offer on the same Red Advantage package, where, for an extra R800 (total bill R1999) they would offer me limitless call time, limitless smses and 5 gigs of data instead of 2 gigs, of which the 2gig data was good enough for my usage without changing consumption parterns on my part. However to my surprise Vodacom never billed me below R1999 since. Every now and again they found a reason why they must bill me more even if I had placed R100 cap on my out of bundle usage.

I went to the USA October 2015, before the trip I visited Vodacoms customer center in Menlynn to enquire about roaming, they said if I go overseas there is no roaming activation 'button' they have to click on their side. All there is, is that I will be billed according to the rates of the nearest available network provider. I then went and never used my cellphone for out bound calls or smses, rather I used free wi-fi for all my communication, and I could receive incoming calls and smses. I was billed no extra charges by Vodacom. The same thing happened this year in March when I went to Botswana.

To my surprise when I went to Israel this September 26th to October 01st, I got billed R4000 end of October 2016 for the 2 short calls I made to my bank from Israel and about 10 smses I sent out, afterwards I got billed R3200 end of November 2016. Upon my enquiry on November 29th I was told that the R4000 bill was for my cellphone usage in Israel, I then asked the lady about the R3200, She then gave me the same reasons, of which I made it clear to her that the fees charged aw excessive and I can't be paying for the same service (cellphone use) for two months in succession considering that I didn't even have my phone for the first two weeks of November and the account was not used during this period.

The lady promised that they will investigate and revert back to me. I'm still waiting..........

It is my contention that Vodacom is billing its client excessive and unfounded charges more than what is legally permissible in order to makeup for the loses from the 'Please call me' civil claim they are faced with. If Vodacom does not refund me in cash R3200 (R2000 excess charge in October and R1200 excess charge in November 2016) and cancel this contract by end of next week I will have to submit a complaint to ICASA. Credit notes are not gonna address my situation, I want my refund in cash.
