Vodacom run around

This is an email that I have just sent Vodacom. I have blanked out my phone number as I don't want any unnecessary phone calls.

I have a Huge problem with Vodacom. I received a sms on Tuesday the 14th February 2017 stating that my account is arrears with the amount of R626, 98. When I phoned the number they gave me in the sms to find out why my account was in arrears which was ********** which is your accounts department. I get told that my debit order was stopped. I told the person on the phone that I had not stopped my debit order with Vodacom and after much waiting and bumbling with the person helping me, I was told that my bank had stopped the debit order, which I found strange as I had not asked my bank to stop my debit order with Vodacom. So on Wednesday the 15th February I went to my bank’s branch in Randpark Ridge Mall and when I spoke to a customer consultant about my problem, they assured me that they hadn’t stopped my debit order (there wasn’t a stop order on their system from me) and that they wouldn’t do so without my written consent.

I then went to a Vodacom shop in the Mall and a customer consultant whose name was Michael told me after looking on his system that my last debit order had gone off in November of 2016 on the 1st. So my account hadn’t been debited from December until February 2017. He also told me that Vodacom had made a change to their system from and old to a new one and that could be the cause for my debit order being stopped through Vodacom on their side. He said that it was no rectified and that on the 1st March 2017 my debit order would come off as usual on the first of every month.

So on Saturday the 18th of February I went and made a payment at my Northgate branch at 9:15am for the outstanding amount of R626,98 and I was asked to phone the accounts department to notify them that I had made a payment; which I did and they said that it could between 4 to 24 hours for my phone to be reactivated. Needless to say that at 1:30pm my phone was still locked and I could not use it. I restarted my phone and I still couldn’t use it. So I waited until Sunday morning and tried my phone again with the same thing happening it still wasn’t activated. I tried the whole restarting of my phone, still no success in being able to use it. I then tried your accounts department and I could not get through to anyone. I take it no one works on Sunday’s at that department? So this morning Monday the 20th February I phoned the accounts department and I spoke to Charles Khumalo who said that he could see that I had made a payment and that it hadn’t been activated, so he said he’d put a request through so that my phone could be reactivated and that it would take up to 4 hours for it to be activated. My phone is now operating as normal. I then asked Charles who could I speak to with regards to some form of compensation and he put me onto his supervisor Mampela who said that I’d need to speak to someone in customer care for that. I know from speaking to customer care that they wouldn’t be able to help me.

So I phoned your head office and spoke to Bompo in your solutions department about getting some form of compensation for all my trouble of having to phone and run around getting my phone reactivated and for the problem stemming from Vodacom’s side for the shutdown of my phone and the cause of my debit order to be stopped because of a change of systems that Vodacom had gone through. Bompo said that she needed to speak to a supervisor to see if it was possible and after waiting for 10 minutes while she had me on hold that there was no way that anyone at Vodacom can compensate me in any way for a problem that happened to be caused by Vodacom in the first place. She told me that it was my problem for the debit order stoppage. All I ask for is a 4gig data compensation, but if this is how I am going to be treated by Vodacom then I am posting this onto Hello Peter and I am Going to move my contract to another cell phone provider who will not cause their customers undue stress and run around. If you would like to find out about what I am referring to my cell number is 083******x and you will find all my details an your system to verify who I am.

Regards,

Not a happy customer.
