Vodacom rooter heating up and upon booking for repairs, told it's a RNR unit...
We have an issue with our Vodacom rooter. It keeps heating up and then loses connection. After talking to a Vodacom rep, I was told to book the unit at our closest Vodacom outlet (65+ km away) to get it checked out. We took the unit on a Wednesday as we had to go to town. Here we were told that time duration could be anything from 2 to 14 days. We arranged to stay with family for 2 days as we were also told it might only be a replacement rooter as Vodacom doesn't stock the specific rooters anymore. Calling the repair center on Friday I was told that the rooter was sent out and would be at the stoor, I can go and collect it. Reaching the store, I was told that the rooter wasn't in yet and could be there the next day or maybe the next week. Hearing this we decided to go back home as we couldn't stay with the family any longer. Receiving the unit the next week we were told that it was an RNR (Returned Not Repaired) unit. We were told that the unit wasn't repaired, and I hoped that they would have just cleaned the unit, and that would help. Keep in mind that we work from home, and we're located remotely so there isn't another option for the internet. Any day without the internet is a day without work and income. We got back home and plugged the rooter back in hoping for the best. Last night while temperatures were low around the house the unit decided to go its normal root of heating up and losing connection and as supposed the cycle started up again. Heating up and losing connection seems to be our faith. This is very irritating as it's not supposed to do this and secondly, when will this unit catch fire? And yes, that's how hot it gets. I'm able to handle the sim card after it gets hot, but my little boy will tell me that it's burning him. Knowing Vodacom reported my issue again I'll be told to take the rooter back to the Vodacom outlet that is 65+ km away, be without internet, work, and income for a few days, and probably be told it's an RNR unit again. I would love to know what will you do regarding this matter Vodacom!
