Vodacom *******
I wanted to take up the Huawei promotion to replace my battery out of warranty for R199. As mentioned on the Huawei website, I took my phone to Vodacom at Eastgate. I received a quotation back of R924.82. When I asked why I am being charged this amount, I was told that my screen needs to be replaced. I handed my phone in in great condition, thus I could not understand why I suddenly had to pay an additional R700 for replacements. After questioning this, a consultant told me I would only have to pay R699 as per the Huawei offer for battery and screen replacement out of warranty. When I gave my phone in, I specifically asked for a battery replacement, as my phone is still in a good condition. I didn’t ask for any additional services or replacements. The consultant at Vodacom called back a bit later in the day to say my screen is flickering when a certain app is opened. I advised them that I will fetch my phone ASAP as I was not willing to pay for unnecessary services. After some research I found out that it was a glitch on the specific app (the music app) that they opened, which is a known issue to Huawei users. I am utterly disappointed in the service I received from Vodacom. If Huawei is relying on Vodacom to gain customer loyalty, they will not benefit much from this relationship when Vodacom is determined to rip customers off.
