Vodacom *******
On Friday 5/10/2018 I bought a nano sim to change from an old to a new phone and needed a smaller simcard. I was advised instore at PEP stores that I can Rica the SIM and phone the call centre to do a sim swap. When I called later, the SIM was not yet active but was then advised that I need to go to a Vodacom shop to do a sim swap. Firstly, if this is for security reasons, I have been RICA'd. Secondly, what is the point of asking the security questions at the beginning of the call. Third: the nearest Vodacom shop is 200km away. So I must do a 400km round trip for a contract sim card instead of being helped? Does Vodacom only care about city dwellers and disregard people who live further away??? I was then advised that I can have it couriered to me. Do you not understand the costs involved in this? SECONDLY. I have a top up contract. Now: Everytime I top up or get funds at the beginning of the month, I convert airtime to data. I understand the responsibility is mine to check my balances. HOWEVER, when Vodacom sends me notifications when my data runs low, I presume that I am relieved of that responsibility as Vodacom sends notifications - when I run low or when data runs out. On Saturday the 6/10/2018 all my balances were R0. I once again phoned the call centre to find out what is going on. I did not receive any notifications? Apparently I ran out of data and started using out of bundle rates. My balances then ran to R0. Vodacom sent no notifications, so I did not feel the need to check (as I said, Vodacom relieved me of that duty when they started sending sms's to say I run low on data). If then, Vodacom stops sending those sms's I at the very le ast deserve a courtesy sms to say that the service has been stopped so I know to check. I feel so outraged by the lax service and the indifference of the call centre agents who acts like I am a fool I only have two apps on my phone, Facebook and Whatsapp, so really my data can last quite a while. I have had Vodacom contracts for the last 10years and have had at a stage 3 contracts. I have already cancelled one. The next one expires in Feb 2019 and I am seriously contemplating cancelling that contract. The number I use at the moment will then follow later in 2019 if Vodacom's service does not seriously improves. It is not as if it the cheapest provider on the market.
