Today I contacted the Vodacom repair store in Canal Walk to enquire about having my screen on my phone replaced. I was told that I would need to pay between R4000 to R5000 to have this done. My phone is still within the warranty period. I spoke to a gentleman, Pierre, who was helpful and advised me that Samsung and Vodacom only gives a warranty for the screen of the phone for 12 months. I was not told this when I purchased the phone. I believed that the warranty was for the full 2 year period.
Pierre checked the system and advised that because I purchased the phone online, I would need to contact the online store, which I did. After speaking to 3 different people and being told that they could not find my order (but they could see I’m due for an upgrade in July 2018) I was told their system was offline and that they would check who the sales person was who attended to the sale. I am still waiting for a call.
I would not have gone to Vodacom for this, nor taken the phone if I did not legitimately believe that the screen replacement was free because I know it can be costly to replace. Once screen replacement – which I am asking for now. But instead I am told, that I need to pay a ridiculous amount for it.
I am so tired of Vodacom *****ing over customers. Normal people do not have R4000 laying around. This is unacceptable and a disgrace that I am now required to pay for a screen, which I believe is owing to me.
I was told that Vodacom or Samsung can pay the cost for this repair. I wonder how many other people found themselves in this position of having been told to pay R4000…
Please resolve this issue, which is grossly unacceptable.
