Vodacom RewardsCo Upgraded my contract!

I got a call in October from a company saying they are RewardsCo and they are from Vodacom. They told me about my contract that was due for upgrade and told me they would enhance the package. This I did not have a problem with, however I explicitly asked if it would affect my upgrade date, because I wanted to clarify that if they went ahead and enhanced my package, it would not count as an upgrade.

Lo and Behold, I visited the Vodacom shop yesterday and they clarified that the upgrade date is now in 2024 because the upgrade happened in October. I am very! unhappy with this, because I was looking forward to upgrading this contract or cancelling it. Now that decision has been taken away from me. I feel like the RewardsCo people are misleading and this is bad for the Vodacom's reputation.
