Vodacom retentions department.
My 24 month contract expired on the 30th of August 2022. I am planning to shift my number to another network. My plan was to request to move from Vodacom Contract to Pay as you go, thereafter port to my new network as Pay as you go, and later consider going back on contract. I notified Vodacom early in August of my intent not to continue with my contract and to request to move to pay as you go. I had to speak to the retention department as is always the case if you you want to change something that seem not to be good for them, but It did not seem as if it would be a problem, and it was confirmed that I will be on pay as you go from 1 September. It was evident that I did not get new airtime and data as per my old contract. On the 8th of September I attempted to port to my new network, but was prompted to contact my network provider. I did so, only to find that I was still on a month to month contract that do not give any airtime. On the next day, I ratified my request with retentions, and was told that should my request should be processed in a few days. Today (14 Sept) I contacted retentions again, to hear what the progress is, as I received no confirmation by SMS. It was then as if its was the first time I requested the change, being asked why I wanted to go to pay as you go and why port my number. The representative sounded very professional, bjt when I was told that the change can only be processed at the end of the month, I was very angry and felt mislead through the process. i feel that I was very clear from the beginning and that Vodacom is trying to play for time to keep me as long as they still can. To date my account was paid up, I gave them more than enough notice and contractually I have done my part. Now I am told that “system” can only process my pay as you go request at the end of the month. At least I have reference number now to hold them to. My advice to other customers is to always request a reference number and hold Vodacom accountable to that. The fact that you apparently cancel a contract overvthe phone is not helping. I would much rather deal with a agent in a shop face to face, but from the recent media, it seems that VC is taking cancelations powers away from Vodashops.
