Vodacom Repairs in Eastgate **** customers

Job Number: ********** 0

This complaint is wrt my son's iphone 6S and the appauling service I have received from Vodacom Eastgate and their Escalation Centre in Midrand.

The phone was not connecting to the wifi unless in immediate proximity of wifi. After it was sent to Vodacom for repairs, I received a quote for R 5 128 .86. This phone is still under warranty and the issue with wifi should be covered under warrenty. Some facts about the Vodacom service department and staff:

I spoke to Porche Ntuli in their call centre on 25 April and she said that the phone cannot be repaired as the Apple warranty does not apply when there is any water damage or if there are any scratches or marks on the phone. I would like to point out a few things:

* This phone works and it is almost a year old. Any one year old phone has scratches and marks. It has not been dropped in the water. Nor is it damaged from a fall or a break. The scratches and marks on the screen and on the back are not the cause of the problem, the faulty internal board is.

* There is a technical problem connecting to wifi when not in proximity of wifi.

* This phone was a replacement by Vodacom in Eastgate last year when my son's phone stopped working. It came in a brown box not the Apple packaging. At the time, I asked where all the documentation for the phone was and they said, it came as is but it has a one year warranty.

* I asked Portia to send me a copy of the warranty that she continues to quote. She said she does not have it. I too don't have it as the replacement phone does not come with a warranty.

* I looked up the Apple phone 6 terms warranty conditions and can't find reference to what Porche is claiming.

* Vodacom is telling me my phone is not covered but they can't show me the terms and condition and my phone did not come with any.

I requested that the phone is repaired/replaced immediately and if it is not then.

1. Vodashop needs to explain how it expects customers who do not receive the Warranty and T and C at the time of the sale to be aware of these.

2. A full technical report explaining what is wrong with my phone and what needs to be done to repair/replace it and how the scratches on the back and screen are the cause of this fault

3. A copy of the terms and conditions, which I did not receive, and reference to the clause they are using to exclude my phone from the warranty.

My phone has been returned to the store with no repair and I have not received any response from the management team.

So I would like to change the title of my post to "Vodacom makes up as it goes". I received a call from Didi ( ********** ) from Vodacom 2 days after my post on hellopeter. She apologized for the poor service and advised that Vodacom would issue me with a replacement phone. I was relieved that finally Vodacom has heard my complaint (thanks to hellopeter). After 10 days, I was contacted by the Vodacom hellopeter staff member who offers me yet another story. He advises that the replacement phone that they issued in 2016, despite Eastgate advising that it was a new phone with a one year warranty, in fact only has a warranty up to the date that my previous phone warranty. No wonder Vodacom's iPhone replacements come out of a brown box with no terms and conditions. In fact, I am lucky that the new phone survived 10 months. He advised that my phone is out of warranty and I can't be assisted. Its remarkable that every conversation with a Vodacom staff member provides a new reason why customers can't be assisted. I have time and time again asked for the following information to take this matter further and still no one can assist me:
1. Vodashop needs to explain how it expects customers who do not receive the Warranty and T and C at the time of receiving a new phone to know the T and C's.
2. A full technical report explaining what is wrong with my phone and what needs to be done to repair/replace.
3. Eastgate Vodacom needs to explain its lie that the replacement phones have a one year warranty, despite coming out of a brown box. I enquired about this at the time that the phone was given to me and I have a witness who was with me who can confirm their statement.
Please can someone assist with the above?
