Vodacom Repair Centre - Pathetic service, Never calls back as promised, phone sent in 3 times for repair comes back damaged each time!!

Hi,

I am absolutely shocked at the bad attitude, refusal to return calls and inability to repair a phone without damaging it in another way by the Vadacom Advanced Repair Centre.

Lets start at the beginning:

I dropped my phone (Sony Xperia Z3) on the 14th August and cracked the touchscreen.

To my shock the touchscreen did not work anymore even though it was a single crack that could only be seen when the phone was held at an angle.

Except for the touchscreen the phone still worked perfectly and was in an as new condition, even though the phone was just over a year old.

19 August I visited Vodacom Repairs at Somerset West.

Vodacom Repairs at Somerset West was unable to give me a quote for the repair, as they had to send the phone to Johannesburg, Vodacom Advanced Repair Centre for a quote.

24 August I received a quote for just over R2,600 - I accepted this quote.

1 September I collected the repaired phone.

Once I started using the phone it became apparent that the lower speaker was noisy, battery life was drastically shorter and wifi connection was unstable.

21 September the phone started switcing off for no reason and battery levels would go up and down for no reason. I then booked the phone in again at Vodacom Repairs Somerset West.

30 September I collected the phone again.

8 October I booked the phone back in again, as the touchscreen was not functioning at the bottom of the screen.

At this stage I was furious and spoke to the manager Dieketseng at Vodacom Advanced Repair Centre.

Dieketseng promised that as this was the third time the phone had been booked in she will ensure that the phone gets fixed as top priority and fully tested before returning it within a week.

Needless to say Dieketseng is a ****, as it took numerous phone calls and almost 2 weeks to eturn the phone.

20 October I collected the phone again. That evening I found that the NFC was not working on my phone.

21 October I visited Vodacom Repairs Somerset West.

Numerous mails and phone calls from their manager to Dieketseng had little effect.

That afternoon I was contacted by Tatho from the Vodacom Advanced Repair Centre, he informed me that Dieketseng cannot speak to me now but he will handle my case.

Tatho then offered me one of the following options, as they cannot replace my phone due to the Z3 being discontinued:

1 - Cancel the remainder of my contract so that I can get a new contract phone - I informed him that this phone was purchased cash and as such is not possible.

2 - The phone gets credited so that I can buy a phone at their store - I asked how much credit and was informed that he cannot tell me untill the credit has been passed, but that it will be the current second hand price of a Sont Xperia Z3 and not even half the price of a new phone - I thus refused such unreasonable offer as my phone was in perfect condition and I should not have to pay for a new phone because they damaged it everytime the were supposed to fix it.

3 - They offered a refurbished Black Berry 9900 - I asked tham if they are completely insane, as this is not even remotely comparable to my phone.

4 - They offered a refurbished Samsung Galaxy S5 - I refused this as it is an older model and of lower spoecifications than my phone and as such it will not suit my needs.

5 - They offered that I send the phone in again so that they can repair it - I refused as they had been unable to repair it 3 times already and each time it took 2 weeks to be finished.

I then requested that because thay had damaged my phone and are unable to replace it they must replace it with a newer model Sony of the same Z range - they informed me that they cannot do this as it is a better model than I had.

I then requested that Dieketseng or her Manager contact me urgently so that we can resolve this, as it should not be my problem when they broke my phone.

Tatho then said he will inform her, but that they are not willing to do anything else than what they had offered, as it seems to them I am trying to get an upgraded phone from them.

Numerous e-mails and phone calls and they just refuse to phone or even e-mail me back.

Since then I have been requesting daily that Diektseng or her supervisor contact me, as they are unable to put me through to her and do not know who her supervisor is.

24 October still unable to get hold of them, Mymoona at Somerset West informed me that Peter Els will be in contact with me that morning, as he is a product specialist.

27 October after following up 2 times a day I am still unable to get anyone from Vodacom Advanced Repair Centre to return my calls as well as calls and emails from Mymoona.

I am totally furious at this pathetic service and have even offered that they must pay me back my original repair cost so that I can have it repaired by another company that cares about quality and service - They have also not even responded to this.

It seems that Vodacom believes that if they ignore their customers their problems gets resolved by itself??!!

Please can someone help me get hold of the managers of these incopmpetent staff so that I can report them?

Regards

28 October - At long last I have been contacted by Vodacom.
Had a discussion with a very friendly Mr Peter Manyaka.
He has arranged that they will courier a new Sony Xperia XZ to the Somerset West store that should be ready for collection on Tuesday.

This is a very nice upgrade to my current phone and not at all what I expected.

Hopefully everything works out as planned will keep you up to date next week.

10 November - After a long delay due to the phone not yet being in stock at the warehouse, I collected my phone this afternoon.

Looks good, now time to get it re-installed!

Thanks Vodacom for sorting this out.
