Vodacom reinstated a settled contract, disconnected my business number, and failed to resolve despite written admissions

In September 2023, I paid up and settled my Vodacom contract in full. Vodacom confirmed this in writing. From that date forward, I was on prepaid, with no contractual agreement in place.

In September 2025 — two years later — Vodacom incorrectly reinstated the settled contract and began billing me. Vodacom has since confirmed in writing that this was an error on their side.

As a result of this error, my primary business cellphone number was disconnected, leaving me uncontactable and materially impacting my business.

Despite:

- Written confirmation that the contract was settled - Written acknowledgement of Vodacom’s error - Multiple assurances that my number would be reactivated …my number remained inactive.

Today, after spending most of the day at a Vodacom branch, a SIM swap was done and I was told to insert the SIM at 16h00 to see if service is restored. This comes after previous commitments were not honoured.

Even if my number is reactivated, this does not resolve:

- The wrongful reinstatement of a settled contract - The prolonged service disruption - The time, income, and business lost - The unacceptable, dismissive handling of the matter

I will be returning to Vodacom to formally engage on fair compensation. Failing this, I will escalate the matter through regulatory and legal channels, supported by Vodacom’s own written admissions.

This experience has been deeply disappointing and entirely avoidable.

Thank you for the response.

Please note that this matter has already been escalated through multiple Vodacom channels, including in-store visits, email correspondence, and public engagement. Despite this, my primary business number remains inactive.

I have previously provided alternative contact details, and attempted follow-ups have been unsuccessful due to the ongoing disconnection.

This issue arose from Vodacom’s erroneous reinstatement of an account that was no longer operating as a contract, which Vodacom has acknowledged. The continued lack of resolution has resulted in prolonged service disruption and business impact.

I require:

- Immediate restoration of my number
- Clear ownership and timelines for resolution
- Engagement on fair compensation for the disruption caused

Please confirm when a consultant will contact me and what the next steps will be to resolve this matter conclusively.

Thank you for the response.

For clarity, I have already engaged with Ms Mazibuko. During today’s call, I was advised that an authorised representative would revert to me by 13h00 to address the cause of the erroneous contract reinstatement and the matter of compensation.

No such follow-up has occurred.

The issue has now moved beyond simple escalation and requires engagement from a decision-maker with authority to conclude the matter in full.

Kindly confirm:
• who the responsible owner is
• when I can expect definitive engagement
• and the timeline for final resolution

I remain available to resolve this constructively.
