Vodacom refuses to take responsibility for internal communication gap!
So, since Black Friday came upon us, everyone gave it their best to come forth with excellent value for money deals to massively increase sales & interest in their companies. Too bad, as always, there is a few companies that cannot stand behind their promises or adverti*****ts, and unfortunately, this time it was Vodacom. They explicitly advertised a Samsung 55inch QLED TV with fibre, for R649.00 (Terms & Conditions Apply) - So, I decided, since I have a 100Mbps Down & 100Mbps Up line with Vodacom, let me phone in and find out what I can do to get my hands on this awesome deal. First the lady I spoke to, (Cannot remember her name), told me that she able to downgrade my fibre line and add the TV onto the new line of my choosing.
So after hearing the pricing, I decided to stick to my 100Mbps line, and just add the TV on. She confirmed that I am able to do so, and she continued to process my request, even confirmed that I will be paying an additional R299.00 per month for 36 Months on my fibre account, as this is what the TV will cost me.
She gave me the reference number SR**********74 and we greeted goodbye. So today I decided just to do a follow up, to find out when I can get my TV, and since I bragged to my wife about it and everything, I was even more excited. After speaking to various people and being cut-off once, I finally got an answer by a friendly young man & his manager (i suppose it's a manager) that they are having system issues which stops them from processing add-on products, and that I must phone back in the new year to try again.... I said to the gentleman, I am sorry, that is not my problem, you even explicitly advertised a Samsung 55inch QLED TV at R299.00 everytime someone goes to your fibre page, so it's not my problem. He took down my number and said he is unable to provide me with an ETA as to when he will be able to have a resolution or answer for me, but he will phone me when he has anything.
So I feel, false advertising and the Consumer Protection Act, was put into place, for exactly this reason, to protect the consumers of South Africa, and to ensure large corporations stick to their promises.... and now this happens?
And the last response I got was: "Good Day
Apologies as the agent you spoke to was not aware of the process change. The system no longer allows for adding on products. Our fixing departments are working on a process.
Kind Regards
Vodacom Fibre"
Totally unacceptable!
