Vodacom Refuses to Replace a phone that they damaged by their own technicians - Vodacom Sandton City Repair Centre while repairing a Manufacture Fault and The Phone is only 2 Months old and was in immaculate Condition
JOB No: ***5 Referrers to:
I took delivery of a Huawei P30 Lite on the 10th of April 2019, a mere 2months later the phone suffered a manufacturers fault, the loudspeaker just stopped working, I brought the phone in for repairs at the Sandton City Repair Centre on the 1st of July 2019, this was processed as a warranty Claim, My phone was inspected, I handed my phone to the store with not a single scratch. I was promised that the repair would take 2-3 working days however this did not happen, I had to keep contacting Vodacom for an update on my repair (as explained telephonically to the Store Manager, Horrid service was provided by the store from the onset), I eventually got my device back on the 9th of July 2019. Upon further inspection of the phone, I found the following faults: which I informed you of the very same day and sent the Store Manager pictures, I was then advised me that they would inform me once you had a loan phone available so I could bring the phone back in for inspection
1. My screen protector (to the value of almost R300) was removed and not replaced and I was told in a nonchalant tone Unfortunately that would be at my cost. 2. My phone had been damaged by the charging pin as well as the headphone jack and aesthetically damaged as well. 3. Within a day or two the screen started acting up, it would go completely dark and light on its own even when in use.
JOB No: ***1 – phone brought in for inspection on damage by Vodacom – I requested a replacement phone – the request was declined.
Take into account that the phone is only 2months old and had already suffered a manufactures fault (which I was unhappy about in the first place), the phone has been opened up and further damage to the phone incurred by Vodacom technicians, I requested a replacement phone as I do not expect to buy a new device and only after 2months of owning the phone have a rebuilt device both inside and out and I am expected to own this for the next 21months for which I will be in contract for the device,
It is clear that when the phone was opened to repair the speaker other things on the phone were effected which is only going to cause more problems for the phone further down the line and I will be stuck with that.
Werner the Store manager informed me that my request for the new device was declined despite Vodacom damaging my phone, that is just disappointing. I have been completely inconvenienced by faults completely attributed to the manufacturer and the supplier and not of my own doing and being forced to just accept this unjust resolve,
would Vodacom accept a damaged phone as a return from a customer?... the simple answer is NO so why do they expect customers to just accept Broken and damaged phones from them?
As per our chat, I have contacted the Vodacom Repairs and they have confirmed that the handset has been repaired under warranty and ready for collection. We apologise for any inconvenience caused regarding the cosmetic damage that was done to the handset. unfortunately this does not call for a device replacement as it has passed the OBF period.
If you no longer wish to have the contract, please advise us if we should proceed with generating a premature cancellation quote.
