Vodacom refuses to give me my invoices and takes random amounts from my acc.

I have been having ongoing issues with Vodacom for years. I have complained on their Facebook and Twitter accounts as well as to their call centre staff and it always falls on deaf ears.

Yesterday, after I complained on Hello Peter once again about Vodacom taking random amounts out of my account, Rudi (who works for Vodacom but manages Hello Peter complaints called me for the second time. Rudi is the only person who ever call you back if you want to talk to someone. The rest of Vodacom ignores you (they leave standard responses like "we are looking into it and send your details blah blah but it never goes anywhere).

I have been asking Vodacom for two years to send me a detailed account of my expenditure. I am always told that I will get the bill at the end of the month and I never do.

I have terminated my contract with Vodacom because I believe that they are not only *****ing from me but from all their data users. Data randomly disappears without customers knowing and Vodacom is hiding behind the "there are apps running in the background" excuse. I think that Vodacom are preying on smartphone technology and the general lack of knowledge that the consumer has because this is a fairly new medium.

Yesterday when Rudi called me he told me that he is wiling to comp my last bill (which is just over R1000) because there were "extra services" that I am not aware of on my bill.

Whilst researching on the forums and internet I found that Vodacom is selling our information to third parties who are known as WASP services. These companies are subscribing our numbers to things like videos and pictures (which I never actually did receive) at costs of anything between R3 and R10 a day. There is a number that you can text (31050) and it will stop these subscriptions. When I did this I got 4 notifications from the following services:

BITBOP

MyCoolMobi

Tapgamez

35050

When you google these things they are so random and confusing but they are clearly that they are taking amounts from your acc.

My bills have been up to R4700. I asked Rudi AGAIN for my bills and he refuses to send these to me. He told me that it is my fault because when you download apps on your phone, Vodacom rides on these subscription services (which they are obviously getting a cut of). I can tell you categorically that I DO NOT play games on my phone. I have never subscribed to anything and I have ONLY ever downloaded apps through the Apple store.

As the consumer I am helpless to defend myself because without bills, I have no proof of what Vodacom are debiting my acc for.

The Consumer Protection Act:

"4) RIGHT TO DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION

a) Right to information in plain and understandable language.

Consumers have the right to demand agreement, contracts and other documents in a plain and understanding language.
b) Right to sales records

Consumers are entitled to invoices and receipts
Suppliers must include the following in their invoices;
Supplier’s full contract information, business name and VAT
Name and description of goods
Transaction date
Unit price of items
Quantity of items
Total price, including TAXES"
