Vodacom refund dishonesty

On January 1 I inadvertently added one digit to a monthly contract payment to Vodacom resulting in a payment 0f R2429.73 instead of R242.97. The error was spotted on January 4 and I immediately paid the correct amount and then asked Capitec Bank to reverse the original EFT payment. The bank contacted Vodacom who refused to allow the payment to be reversed. After a long discussion, the Vodacom person agreed that the amount would instead be paid by Vodacom into my account at Capitec within 14 working days. Capitec immediately e-mailed the required account statement and proof of account, copying myself. By mid February there was no payment and Capitec again contacted Vodacom who claimed that they had not received my account details. After some discussion Capitec again e-mailed the required proofs. Vodacom then stated that payment would be made within 48 hours. No payment was made and I twice contacted Vodacom's customer care. Each time the consultant spoke to Vodacom's accounts department and was told that they did not have my bank details. Each time I insisted that they had the details and the consultant went back to accounts who then admitted they had the details but had not input them. Each time I was promised payment within 48 hours and each time this turned out to be untrue. I then contacted Vodacom again and the consultant agreed to discuss the matter with accounts and phone me back. She did not do so. On January 15 I contacted Vodacom again and the consultant told me she was pleased to announce that the payment had finally been cleared by accounts and I would be paid within 14 working days - effectively another three-week delay. I complained explaining that as Vodacom had known of the problem since January 4 a further three-week delay was unacceptable. She agreed and again contacted Vodacom's accounts department and after some time she told me they had agreed to pay me before the end of the week. Agan this has not happened. I have been a Vodacom customer since the early days of cell phones, and I am most disappointed at the broken promises and secondly the lies that were told to the consultants regarding my bank details not having been received. With the exception of the lady who failed to return my call, the consultants have been excellent and caring but it appears that the Vodacom accounts department believes that it can ignore all norms of business ethics and customer care.

Three days later and still now word from Vodacom. I notice the trust score of this company is appalling. I hope ICASA follows Hullo Peter and will take appropriate action. If not maybe I should cut and paste the Vodacom complaints and send them to Icasa.

A refund has been made but R243 has been deducted with no explanation. No consultant has contacted me. This leaves me with the impression that Vodacom have no concern for their customer's rights and have no understanding of business ethics. Their behaviour is inexcusable.
