Vodacom reaps in profits while SA citizens suffer

I am constantly annoyed and shocked at the arrogance of Vodacom.

Our family has been clients for years - either pre-paid or on contract like myself. Despite a longstanding fight to get all cellphone operators to reduce their fees, nothing has materialised. Not even COVID-19 could persuade anyone to cut profits.

A few things really upset me: 1. This in-built 30-day data expiration. It is like paying LOTTO or gambling. The house is gauranteed to win. 2. The fact that I cannot transfer my data to anyone else, nor convert it into voice. 3. The incredible high voice call rates. Even to another Vodacom number. Even on a Sunday. 4. Their sales staff are quick to call you to force you into another 24-month contract with a meaningless reduction, yet try and phone them with a service complaint.

Why is it that Standard Bank can reduce a swath of fees, siting COVID-19 relief, yet Vodacom blatantly ignores that 40% + of SA citizens are unemployed and have no other means of communicating than by mobile?
