Vodacom re-activations

In December 2013, a 3G data account which I had was disconnected due to non-payment. I went to Cresta Vodacom and paid the reconnection fee and I had to purchase a new sim card because my previous sim card was deactivated by Vodacom. On the same form, I changed my banking details.
I do not actively utilise the 3G data sim card and when i called the call centre in January 2014, I was told that there was a backlog of reconnections and I just need to be patient.

Anyway, over the course of a few months, I kept getting emails from Vodacom requesting me to reconnect, which I duly completed and emailed as an attachment to [Email Removed]

One day out of the blue, I got a call from the collections agency acting on behalf of Vodacom and they demanded payment. I completed an affidavit whereby outlined in detail the above interactions with Vodacom since I requested my line to be reactivated and I am completely baffled.

My question to Vodacom is why was my line never re-activated after numerous attempts was made by myself to re-activate the line? Because now, this contact has expired and I am responsible for all the months which the line was inactive since Dec 2013.
