Vodacom probably still the worts network operator

Damn, HelloPeter, you should allow 0 star and even negative star ratings...

As for Vodacom... their whole network went down in the area on Monday, 31st of March 2025 and did not return, until Tuesday during the morning, however, with more than 50% packet loss on the data network, it may as well have been turned off, since trying to load a simple web page would take 15 minutes or more with many manual retries until something faintly resembling the page you would like to view, eventually came up, maybe. I was still in the mistaken belief that these Bozos did actually monitor their network and would attend to faults as they occurred, but nope, by Wednesday I phoned cancellations, since 135 and ThatOrriBleIdiot Tobi is totally useless, there seems to be no way to talk to someone with a brain and the menu options do not allow for any network outage reporting. Cancellations told me I would be in for a penalty, since the contract still has time left and I told the gentleman, that the penalty should be on Vodacom's end. since they are not providing the service they are being paid for and instead of having a person that one can report outages to, they have some idiotic non fit for purpose interactive voice message system, actually I don't think you can even leave a message there... Anyway, the gentleman assured me someone would contact me within 24 hours.... well. we're approaching 48 hours and nothing heard from nobody as yet... After 24 hours had passed, Thursday/yesterday, I decided to try one more thing, call Vodacom head office in JHB, I was after some runaround put through to a lady to whom I explained the situation (also stating that I don't really want to cancel, but since they were not sorting this excrement of a network out, what were my choices?) anyway, she took my details and said she would pass along the problem to the relevant people... and... to my amazement about 30 minutes later the network was back, not dropping packets and working like it should.... until somewhere between 17:00 and 18:00 last night when it went into its limp, we're not reliably passing any traffic anymore mode again. This morning, without the network working as it should, I thought I'd chase this up and.... Emergency Calls Only... what the hell? So, my suggestion to these Bozos is as follows: actively monitor your network for outages and faults, hell, I was doing this sort of thing last century already and we would detect outages timeously and could actively prevent these from dragging on. Have a decent number & a person with a brain to talk to when outages occur, having to dig my way through Tobi, who should be retired, since he has proven worse than useless in my eyes, is not the way to keep customers happy and rooting for you. Also in this case where we had more than 3 days of no real service, maybe you should credit the affected customers in the area half of their monthly bill to you for this month. since this year, so far we've had probably a combined 14 days outages at a thumbsuck. So, all I can hope for is that this company, who has not a very good track record, so far, gets a wake up call and improves overall from network monitoring, to taking responsibility for their network and allowing their customers to report outages to an actual human being.

Could you maybe explain why they had no success contacting me? Was it because instead of "VodaCom-SA" I was seeing "Emergency calls only" on my phone? The tower nearest to us has been out of comission now for more than a week and all the other towers much further away also seem flaky and certainly if we do get a data connection there is more than 50% dropped packets on your network making it unusable.
Maybe you should get the network division to fix your network so they can contact me... as it is, thanks to MTN , the email has been responded to and I can post this response as well.
I assumed that when you expanded your network and installed a tower within 3km or so of my home, your network would improve, but, I guess, adding towers is not the same as keeping them operational and ensuring the infrastructure you have keeps on working. Please let me know how we can cancel the contract and how much you will pay me to let you out of the contract early, since you can not fulfill your side of the data contract, unless of course you can get everything operational and working again by tomorrow... I suspect you won't be able to.

OK, here we go:
I was assured someone from the Network Division would contact me... never happened!
They closed the 2nd ticket connected to this fault now, but hasn't been resolved properly yet.
The tower nearest to me is now up, at the moment, I'll reserve judgement on that one after it has been up non-stop for at least 3 days. However, the packet loss on their network is still ongoing and this is part of the larger problem. Unless you re-open the ticket and resolve all problems related to the fault logged, I guess I'll have to keep on nagging about this, maybe it is time to get onto Fecesbook as well...
Also what credit will you pass for the 8 days of no service and now for the partial service.
I expect on your network at least, a 0% packet loss and we are far from this at the moment.

Ok, looks like we have a working network connection again, since outage happened 15 days ago, amount of working days with network working correctly, app. 4, so now, what is Vodacom willing to do to make this right, you would not expect your customers to to pay 10% for a 100% service just as we can not let you get away with taking 100% of the money for giving us less than 30% of the service you should.
I am assuming here that the network outages are now a thing of the past for the rest of the year... although I won't hold my breath.
