“Vodacom Prioritises Billing Over Human Dignity”

✨ My Experience With Vodacom South Africa ✨

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been through one of the most frustrating and disappointing experiences with Vodacom, a company I’ve been loyal to for years.

It started with a *****ulent line that was opened in my name. Instead of helping me resolve it, I was sent in circles — more than 50 calls later, I still had no clear answers. Different Vodacom agents gave me completely different credit amounts (at one point I was told over R5,000 would be refunded, then later told something totally different). Even their own senior staff admitted the figures were miscalculated.

But what hurt the most wasn’t the admin nightmare. During one of these calls, I was subjected to a ****** remark by a Vodacom staff member. She told me:

> “You Indians like doing this and that — you love money. Even our CEO is Indian and loves money too.”

As a paying customer who has supported Vodacom for years, I was left shocked and humiliated that this could happen in 2025, in South Africa.

I escalated this matter directly to Vodacom’s CEO by email — but received no reply. Instead, Vodacom’s Client Liaison Officer, Trinity Ngoma, responded on behalf of senior management. Unfortunately, instead of meaningful accountability, the matter was pushed aside. To this day, I have received no apology and no confirmation of any action taken against the staff member involved.

Instead of focusing on dignity and respect, Vodacom chose to focus on enforcing contract charges, while completely ignoring the racial misconduct and the impact it had on me as a customer.

Because of this, I’ve now escalated the matter to the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC). This is no longer just about billing — it’s about basic respect and equality.

I’m sharing this not to name and shame, but because we need to talk about how companies treat people. Profit can’t come before respect, fairness, and human dignity.
