Vodacom Placed My Account in Collections for a Cancelled SIM Card
I genuinely don’t even know where to begin. Over a year ago, I took out a SIM-only contract with Vodacom for data purposes. After taking it home, I realized it wasn’t compatible with my router. I returned it to the Cresta Vodacom store the very next day.
I was assured by a consultant named Tim that the contract would be cancelled as I had returned the SIM within the 3-day cooling-off period. He even explicitly mentioned there would be no charges or penalties.
Fast forward to today: I try applying for a contract at iStore and I’m shocked to find out my account is sitting in collections due to this cancelled SIM.
How does a cancelled contract — returned within the legal timeframe and with verbal confirmation from a Vodacom representative — end up damaging my credit profile? This is completely unacceptable and has now impacted my ability to access new credit.
I need this matter resolved urgently. Vodacom, please clear this account from collections and rectify the damage done to my credit record. I’ve been more than patient, but this is beyond disappointing.
