Vodacom... PATHETIC show guys. Seriously.

Written on behalf of my wife.

She has been trying her very best to take out a new contract with Vodacom. So far it's been a 3-day disaster, and she is still no further than she was when she started.

On Monday, she completed the online application and was told that she would receive a call from Vodacom to complete the application. A few hours later, she received the call from an 031 number, but as soon as she answers the call dies. This has happened multiple times. And then she receives an SMS saying that you tried to contact her, but they couldn't get hold of her and you will try again. That loop has been ongoing for 3 days.

So she gets proactive. She calls the contact centre. Worst mistake ever. Your consultants are completely clueless, and they have been sending her from pillar to post. One consultant says that her profile must be set from A to B and then she does that (which requires speaking to 2 other consultants). Then the next consultant says it must be changed from B to A. And then she does that. Endless loop again. And now remember that after speaking to each person, she sits in the queue for 20-25 minutes.

So apparently now her profile is in the correct status, but the consultant who started her application (and must complete it) can't be bothered to call back. My wife has made an additional 3 calls trying to get hold of this consultant, but each time she gets an empty promise for a call back. Every person she has spoken to has "left a message" asking her to contact my wife.

In total, she has now spoken to more than 15 (FIFTEEN) consultants, she has spent literally HOURS being sent from one call queue to the next, and shes spent DAYS waiting for that promised call back. I'm not even dealing with you guys, but your hold music haunts my dreams ...

My best guesses are: 1. You have enough customers and signing up new ones is not a priority. 2. Your consultants don't feel like doing the work, and rather keep passing the buck.

I've been a vodacom customer since 1997. And I must say that this service, or lack there of, has been ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC. Pretty sure if she went to another provider, she would have had the contract already. Yet, here she sits with a half-completed application and empty promises of call backs.

Hi Vodacom,

We have received a follow-up call from someone in your marketing? department. It seemed promising at first, but we're right back into the same loop: Escalations into the ether, empty promises for call backs, no answers, no path forward.

My wife tried one last call in today. Nobody knows what to do. Nobody can assist.

What a colossal waste of time and effort. We've counted the number of outgoing calls we've made to you over the last week. 23 outgoing calls totaling over 5 hours on the line. It's almost embarrassing to admit it, but I think it will help you understand the level of frustration.

We're done.

- Ashley.
