Vodacom operates with 1980's technology as they can't close an account after a year
So my contract came to an end last year end of April (April 2018). I followed Vodacoms procedure and gave a months notice to cancel the contract. End of April Vodacom contacted me and the contract was confirmed cancelled over the phone. I received an invoice of R0.00 indicating no monies are outstanding. I pulled a credit report recently because my loan was declined and discovered that the account is still open with Vodacom (1 year after being cancelled) so I contacted Vodacom to query why the account is still open only to be informed that I still owe them R44.50 (or something) for a balance of contact. Where does that come from after Vodacom confirmed no outstanding amounts via phone and sent me an invoice indicating no outstanding amounts. No one made contact to inform me of this for a whole year and now my loans aren't approved due to to many open accounts (one of them being Vodacom) giving me a bad credit score. The reason apparently is a new system being used and my "R44.50" will be written off once the batch is processed. How is this even still an issue after a year has passed? Are you using 1980's technology? Homing ***eons? Telegraphs? So now I'm at the fate of Vodacom (to name but one company) to process and write off the R44.50 and the account remains open on my credit report giving me a bad credit score. Not so well done Vodacom. Catch up with the times, things don't take a year anymore to process or to get it done.
