Vodacom Online - A Maze of Frustration
I am highly frustrated. I have been trying to apply for a contract with Vodacom now since December. Late in December I app**** and sent the requested documentation a few days later just to get notified the application expired. Mid Jan I app**** again and made sure to send the documents within a day. After no one got back to me I eventually requested a call back to find out what was happening. After being bounced from department to department with multiple calls I finally found someone able to assist me and I was informed the application again expired. She tried to assist me to create an online application but got thrown out of the system repeatedly but finally managed to log an application. I connected with her over email and followed up to no avail. I again requested a call back and after being bounced around again finally found someone who picked up there was an application from long ago on their system that was blocking the credit check process. They "cleared" the application and undertook to escalate the matter. To date, they have not got in touch with me. I again requested a call back whilst on a business trip in CPT. In trying to reconnect with the previous person who undertook to escalate the matter I was informed that I was talking to Western Cape branch and they could not see any of my requests on their system. But that they would assist in creating an application for me. I was then informed that the credit department flagged me because my ID does not match my name on their system. Somehow they had gotten, either a copy of my old ID with my ****en name, or had my ****en name on their system. This, despite having sent them my current ID multiple times and using my current name on all applications. After sending in additional documents that seem to have been resolved. I was then told that I do not qualify for the contract I was applying for. I have an immaculate credit record and the reason they gave for disqualifying me is that it was my first contract with Vodacom and that it is policy to start people on lower contracts. I ended up going in to a physical store last Thursday and finally managed to speak with a person who I could follow up with. She explained that the online applications were done by various third parties and has been struggling to clear the applications they made. She assured me that they are able to request a deviation to allow a first time contract for the top end phones given a good credit rating. This week I thought I would give it a go to see what the process is like with MTN. I managed to get the equivalent contract, with credit approval within 30min, their courier service promptly got in touch with me to arrange the delivery, which is scheduled for next week, and their ***** department contacted my mom and I to verify it is a legitimate contract. Excellent, excellent service. The problem is I have never had an issue before with Vodacom and the watch I want is not offered through MTN. I would like someone in Vodacom to get in touch with me and to sort out this issue and work with the in store staff to clear all blockages to the contract. You have until Tuesday to sort this out, failing which, i will be forced to move to MTN, making Vodacom lose out on a revenue stream of roughly R150 000+ over the next ten years and even more thereafter.
