VODACOM - NOT TREATING CUSTOMERS FAIRLY
Insurance being added to my account ONCE AGAIN was the last straw.
In May 2022, on a recorded line, I agreed to have MyGig5 from 1 June 2022, at a cost of R108pm. I was assured that NO other amount would be deducted.
During the night of 31 May 2022/1 June 2022, I went into my Vodacom App to see whether my MyGig5 contract was activated. I then saw, to my shock (I have screenshots) that a previous contract of mine was reactivated, together with the new MyGig5. So from 1 June 2022, I was on the agreed MyGig5 PLUS a previous contract. (I made it clear, in December 2021, during a recorded conversation with Vodacom, that the old contract should not be renewed once I paid it off).
On the 1st of June 2022 at 07:41 (about 8 hours after I received the notification of the activation of the old contract), I immediately raised my concern with Vodacom - that the old contract should not have been reactivated. This call only lasted for 48m12s.
In total, time spent to try and have this sorted out: Between 1 June 2022 - October 2022: visited Vodacom (Somerset Mall & Canal Walk) 4 times Call duration (those that i could retrieve, when I searched for the calls): over 8 hours ....I had to explain and repeat everything for hours and hours and hours - in person and over the phone.
On the 7th of December 2022, I gave up. I had no other choice than to agree to pay Vodacom off every single month for more than a year - for a contract that I didn't sign up for. But I had no choice, as losing my number was not an option.
And why do I have to call a different number to cancel insurance (for a device) that I did not sign up for?? Why do they have insurance arranged automatically????
So what will Vodacom do now? Apologise for my experience and just not refund the money that I paid them in vain?
