Vodacom, not the best after all

After long deliberation , I finally decided to purchase a phone and change my network service provider. On Saturday, 29 July 2017, I went into the Vodacom store at Tygervalley (located close to Game) and purchased a contract which included the Huawei p10 with Huawei P8 lite. The employee who helped me, was named Melissa, she mentioned that my contract would only be active on the 1 August 2017. This meant that I would receive my data, free minutes and airtime that was included in the contract. Waiting in anticipation on 1 August 2017, to my suprise, nothing had appear on both phones. The new simcard on the P10 was suppose to receive 500MG, 200 free SMS and 200 free minutes. The new simcard on the P8 lite was suppose to receive R55 and the simcard was suppose to be activated. I immediately called customer service, they said that my P10 simcard appears as prepaid and I should go to the store to query the problem. I called the store yesterday, requesting to speak to Melissa, after being put on hold for quite sometime, Melissa told me that an email came through to their store stating that there was a problem with my contract activation. She said my contract should be activated by 2 August 2017. I asked if I would be compensated for yesterday and she rsponded with a neverminded tone "oh i'll see and will speak to someone". I still have not received my data, airtime, free SMS and free minutes as promised with the contract. I hope I am not going to be billed for the full month. It's things like these that make me not want to purchase cellphone contracts becase there always seem to be a hassle! I thought Vodacom was quick and effective in their dealings, it seems the complete opposite.

A few points that I'd like to highlight:

- The service from the store consultant (Melissa) was below avaerage. She did not bother to engage or establish rapport. I had to ask all the questions to receive information that I was not aware of.

- I am upset and disapointed that I did not receive confirmation of the issue regarding my contract activation. I do not have the time to go back and forth to a mall. Why should I be the one to make the effort and fix this contract issue? Should that not be the consultant's job?

- The simcard on the P8 lite still has no network coverage and is inactive. This means I cannot buy airtime or load data on the phone. The phone is now of no use.

- After waiting patiently for 3 days, I was promised that my contract would be active on 1 August and then later 2 August. This promise has not been met.

- On Sunday, 30 July, I purchased R29 airtime for the simcard on the P10. The airtime vanished immediately. The consultant had told me that she had disbled the features that automatically downloads in the background. Clearly this was not the case.

- I specifically switched to Vodacom network because of their reputation. As a first time customer with them, my experience was bad. I am considering cancelling everything.

Thanks for ruining my excitement and dissapointing a first time customer, you surely know how not to dleiver!
