Vodacom not resolving a device issue repetitively.
In December 2024 I took a new phone on contract from the Vodacom branch in Secunda. It is a Oppo Reno 12F, supposedly midrange to higher end device. Since my experience with the Oppo Reno 7 5G previously was positive, this was an obvious choice. The problem with the pone became evident when taking videos and panorama photos where a fluent video is expected. Instead, the phone kept freezing the image every few seconds, something you might be ok with if you bought a bottom of the range device, but certainly not in this case. What I have done to resolve the matter, is to have it sent in to Vodacom repairs. This I did on 3 separate occasions, the second time the phone was replaced with a new device, which on receipt still did exactly the same. After the third time of sending the phone in, I have just received feedback that they could not see a problem with the phone and that they are returning it to the branch it was sent from. On following up with Vodacom on ***, they confirmed when I asked how I can get this matter resolved, they said I must rebook it for repairs. Every time I do this, it takes at least two weeks to get my phone back, the first time round I asked for a loan phone, but after two weeks of waiting, I decided to use my old phone while the new one is getting repaired. The total impact of this matter is that I have been without my phone for two months in total, and also wasting time every time I have to dro off, pick up and transfer all my information between phones. I doo not believe Vodacom has my best interest as customer at heart in how this matter is being handled.
