Vodacom not honoring Warrantee

Our Vodacom contract Black Berry 9720 was sent in for repairs. The phone did not want to charge. The phone was sent to a service centre out of town. We were notified that the phone is ready for collection. Upon collection we were informed that it was not 'economical' to repair (BER) the phone and that the warranty has expired. The reason for the 'expiry' was apparently due to us breaking of the charging unit The phone .is only due for an upgrade 26 February 2016 which is very much in the warrantee period.

We are aware that the BB9720 are prone to breakages on the charging unit which proves the breakage was not our fault How can we be held responsible for a common breakage known to the company .

Between me and my husband we have 4 Vodacom Contracts and 2 pay as you go Vodacom phones. As loyal customers for more than 12 years we believe we should have the benefit of warrantees issued by Vodacom. Failure to honour your warrantee on the phones will force us to start looking for another service provider ( one contract is due for renewal in 2 months). We are shocked that Vodacom could turn its back on us after all these years and find it in very band form.
