Vodacom not homering customer cancellation requests and continuing to charge.

Dear Vodacom

I have been a faithful client of yours for at least the past 10 years thinking that you were the BEST of the service providers.

Over the years I have had numerous contracts and have visited your store many times to cancel contracts which I no longer needed. For a while now my monthly bill has been R4000. This sounds like a lot but since I have a contract for myself and for my son and my daughter (3 contracts in all) I thought this was reasonable.

So last week I took a look at my monthly bill (for the first time - unfortunately - MY BAD).

Thats were I noticed no less that 5 cell phone numbers which I did not recognise, on my bill. Visiting my local Vodacom store they tell me that these 5 cell phone numbers are for past contracts, which I am still being charged for. A whole R450 per number. The bill for these 5 numbers comes to R2000 per month.

So over the years I have visited the store, on 5 occasions, to cancel contracts which I no longer needed. These days I know the stores cannot cancel contracts but previously we went into the store. It turns out that although, in each case, I spoke to the store consultant and asked for the contract to be cancelled. And despite the consultant telling me it was cancelled, these contracts were NEVER cancelled on Vodacoms books.

If this had happened on one occasion it could be put down to an error on Vodacoms part. But for it to happen 5 TIMES in succession would tell me that there is a SERIOUS problem at Vodacom.

Now in the past week I visited my local store to try to sort this out. I spoke to the Manager, who admitted that just the previous day she had a customer coming in with the same problem. A contract which she had cancelled but which remained open on Vodacoms books. When I asked the Manager if it was the customers fault or Vodacoms fault she admitted it was a problem on the side of Vodacom.

Now, unknown to the Manager, I had recorded this entire conversation and have the recording.

My question to Vodacom is HOW the HECK do you tell a customer that their request for the cancellation of a contract has been processed and yet on your books the contract is still open and the client is being charged for this?

Secondly HOW the HECK does it happen to the SAME customer no less than 5 TIMES in succession ?

I would appreciate an answer from Vodacom before I decide on my next move in this matter.

Paul
