Vodacom non-existent service

I have been trying since August 2017 to cancel the last contract I had with Vodacom. It has been 1.5 years of non-existent service from Vodacom. No surprises why we leave Vodacom!!! They don’t respond to requests, queries or complaints. In addition, they ***** money from clients.

In short: in 2017 I requested a pre-mature cancellation for the line that my father used. He passed away and subsequently requested to cancel it pre-maturely. Vodacom has been ignoring my request since 2017. I have used all avenues possible to get this sorted out. This is the last resort before logging a formal complaint/dispute with ICASA.

There is a long bad history with Vodacom dating back to 2015 and now this? Eventually they force clients to cancel all their contracts and move on. Why is it always necessary to go to a complaints pages or the Ombudsman to get answers and service from Vodacom?

Just after my request for cancellation, Vodacom seems to have cancelled the debit order in 2017. So it is natural to think they did their part. Eventually all my contracts expired and thought I was rid of this terrible Service Provider. Little did I know what was to come. To ensure that everything was sorted, I again and again tried to contact the Cancellations Dept via email without success. No joy from ANY department at Vodacom. Phoning proves to be even more futile. On email one simply gets a “Your service request has been closed” response.

In 2018 I contacted the Legal Dept after receiving no joy. The Vodacom website provides absolutely no help in solving disputes. I want everything in writing as there is not trust in them. In the absence of Vodacom not handling finalisation of my request, I kept on paying R500+ pm even though I didn't know what was anything outstanding. When I requested statements, they did reply or send it. Proof has been sent to Customer Services, Cancellation and Legal Depts. To date I am very certain that I have actually paid much more than the initial quote was for premature cancellation. The CPA & NCR is also very clear on this. And worse of all…it seems as if Vodacom has handed this account over to the very “famous” MBD who in itself have 100’s of complaints against them.

Before running to the Ombudsman, I thought I would get joy from the Legal Dept. Absolutely just as “competent” as Customer Services. Now they say that the account was handed over to MBD.

This whole situation is unacceptable. After NOT doing what Vodacom was supposed to do in August 2017, they do this? There has recently been calls from unidentified numbers and strange numbers, all times of day. I have made sure that my new number with the new SP was kept private from spammers and ********. My number is supposed to be private. I haven’t been with Vodacom since 2017, so where do all these people get my number? I have a right to privacy and it is Vodacom that messed up here. This is harassment and must stop. Phone Vodacom who messed up!

I require the account to be closed ASAP as I requested 1.5 years ago and at the discounted rate at the time of the request. In actual fact, Vodacom owes me money. I expect the matter be resolved via email. I want PROOF that it has been resolved. I obviously do not trust anything they say or do. Consumers are sick and tired of being bul**** and mistreated by Vodacom and I will not be held liable for Vodacom’s mistakes.
