Vodacom no way of out of a contract

Cancelling #vodacom mobile wifi contract is like pulling teeth - they don’t make it easy. On a contract for R149 I’m paying almost R340 monthly; apparently I am over my 10 gigs every month. Amazing as I haven’t used it since last year Oct (2020) as I lived in Botswana for all this time and that unit was in Benoni. I move back in April 2021 started looking at banking records.

After speaking to a few customer care reps it turns out that I am subscribed to a gaming network - I have no idea how I have subscribed to this network, as I have never taken the SIM card out of the unit which is a way to subscribe or to call customer care and to subscribe directly. I’m not a gamer so I wouldn’t have called. The SIM card from the WiFi unit won’t fit in my phone so I definitely could not have accidentally subscribed. So I query further how would this have happened.customer service says there’s is a possibility that the SIM card has been used for gaming but there is no way to investigate this or to refund me.

If I cancel my contract I will have to pay them double (R4400) the amount than to just see the contract through. I have no way out.
