Vodacom: no sense of accountability

I was advised that I would be temporarily laid off from August 2020, I called Vodacom in advanced on the 20th of July to advise that I would not be able to make payments as I won't be receiving a salary. The agent that I spoke to advised me that I they could place my number on prepaid and would stop all debit orders and that I would be able to continue with the contract as per normal.

I sent all documents requested to the *** email address as advised, I never received any call back or communication from then on, tried calling before the 25th in August 2020 to get an update of the procedure but was advised that I would be receiving communication from the Department.

I have not received any communication from the Department till date.

I was then officially retrenched by the company I was working for end of October 2020, I sent the retrenchment letter to *** aswell and stated the situation. I have not received any feedback from them aswell regarding the retrenchment.

My line was then suspended on the 20th of January 2021. I went to the Vodacom store to enquire but was told it was suspended as there was an amount owing on the account. I explained the situation to the store manager and was then advised that my number was never eligible to be switched to prepaid initially from the call I made in July 2020.

I am really disappointed and upset by this as I was not told this by the agent who I had discussed with when I called to advise of my temporary lay off.

My line is suspended now and I am unable to receive any calls regarding potential employers, potential clients and previous or current clients. There was no discussion or option to make any arrangement with the outstanding balance in order to have the line reinstated.

Had the agent I had initially not misadvised or given me wrong information in regards to my line being put on prepaid then my account would not be in the state it is currently in, I would have made some form of arrangement alternatively.

It is unfair and unjust what Vodacom is doing to me as a loyal customer who has been with it for more than 15 years and who has never skipped a payment or been in arrears.

I now feel that it is time to part ways with the company as the same loyalty I have given the company I am not receiving back.
