Vodacom no return or warranty policies on devices
Currently I’m a customer of Vodacom with a device Huawei Matebook pro that is still under contract. The device started heating in high temperatures when openings any program or basic tasks like web browsing which was unnormal and worry some. I took the device the Vodacom which they advised I need to give it in to Huawei care Centre as they can’t help with the matter. The formal tec guy also a internal system check and found nothing wrong but also stated that the device might damage because of the heat and that there might be an airflow problem. I booked in the Huawei device at the Melrose arch branch 10.01.2023 and for a week the Huawei branch lost the laptop device, based on the phone call which head office of Huawei and that they need to do an investigation on where the device is. which it was found after. formally booked into the Huawei care service main system on the 17.01.2023 a week after we where at the Huawei branch. I was advised by the head care centre that the laptop had its inspection and that I had to wait for spare parts from China to fix it(main board and cooling fan) and there is no ETA on when it will arrive. With over a month of waiting under the pretences that I had to wait for spare parts without any ETA. A month has passed, and I receive a quotation bill to pay R19,655.00 with the subject HW Part Defective Function on this quote. To continue with repairs I had to pay this amount. But to date still no damage report was sent to me as why, and why this device does not fall under the warranty. I had to follow up multiple calls to find out that there was apparently liquid damage to the laptop this after 3 days has passed after receiving this quote. Now this is based on a unformal report which consists of two photos a cover and spotless main board, they show a red dot behind the laptop as proof of liquid damage, but no signs of corrosion is clearly spotted on a shiny motherboard. I stand by there was NO liquid spilled over the pc laptop and everything was still working, it was just heating up (Francois a technician at Vodacom Chatz as a witness) did their own system check before sending me off to Huawei. Its Ironic to think after which you start following up and complain about the lead time on repairs there is now all the sudden with a hefty quote R19,655.00 now and questioning it there is also apparently liquid damage. This after all they reassured me that they are already awaiting parts from China and will let me know when the laptop is ready for collection. I use this laptop for my creative business and currently loosing revenue I still have to pay Vodacom my monthly contract of R1200 and they refuse to help with the matter and still stand that I need to sort it out with Huawei. To date my laptop has still not been repaired and still with the Melrose arch branch. With Horrible customer service from Vodacom and Huawei, warranty repair policies not met and no customer satisfactory.
